UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PUISI DENGAN METODE DEMONSTRASI SISWA KELAS XII MIA 3 SMAN 1 PEKANBARU

This research is motivated by the low ability of reading poetry students of class XII MIA 3 SMAN 1 Pekanbaru. This study aims to improve the ability to read poetry using demonstration methods. This classroom action research was conducted for 1 month. The subjects of this study are students of class XII MIA 3 SMAN 1 Pekanbaru amounted to 34 students, in the academic year 2014-2015. The instrument of this research consisted of performance instrument and data collection instrument in the form of observation sheet of teacher activity and student activity. Based on the results of research, the conclusion obtained from this study is the ability of students in the ability to read poetry has increased. This is known from the initial data average value of 72.1. When viewed from the classical completeness, there are 17.6% of students (6 people) who complete a minimum score of 85 (according to KKM standards). However, after the implementation of the demonstration method, obtained an average value of 90.2 or with a mastery of 87.4%. Thus, the study is said to be successful.
