IMPROVING MATHEMATICS CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY USING PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) MODEL AT SDN 001 KEMPAS JAYA

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the problem based learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills. This learning model can train students to solve problems through the knowledge they already have. Problem Based Learning or PBL is an approach in the teaching and learning process by using a real problem that occurs in life as a context for students to explore knowledge about critical thinking. The research used in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a research design model Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research was conducted at SDN 001 Kempas Jaya. The subjects of this study were students of class VI (Six), the number of students was 25 students. Cycle I before applying problem based learning showed critical thinking skills with classical completeness 56% and the average obtained was 67.2. While in the second cycle the classical completeness value was 88% and the average obtained was 77.3. The problem-based learning model as a whole can improve students' critical thinking skills which have an impact on improving student learning outcomes in the learning process.
