STUDENT’S CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH ONLINE BASED LEARNING (CASE STUDY OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ERA IN SMP LABORATORIUM UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MALANG)

Abstract


COVID-19 was spreaded all over the world, which make all of activities are limited. Social distancing applied as precaution from virus spreading, which also applied in learning activities. Online based learning are use as a learning method throughout pandemic situation, but there are some trouble happen such as a low ability to supervise and observing student progress when teacher convey character building. Research purposes are analizing teacher’s strategic move to apply character building with online based learning method, and analizing teacher’s result measurement to evaluate student’s character develop. This research using descriptive qualitative method with study case design. The result shows that teacher’s strategic move to apply character building with online based learning method are, (1) using a virtual communication media, (2) giving good example or become students role model, (3) doing intensive training and habituation, and (4) maximize synergity between parents and teachers. Teacher’s result measurement to evaluate student’s character develop can be seen from (1) observation by lecture and class teachers, and (2) students kindness report from school counselors and school rules department. Subject recommendation for next research is about students character changes after online based learning implemented in schools.
