Abstract

Limited preparation time remains a practical challenge for elementary English teachers in designing engaging instructional media and joyful learning activities. This study developed and evaluated an AI-supported Joyful Learning Activity Guide for Grade 4 English instruction using the ADDIE framework. The guide was developed from a needs analysis with Grade 4 English teachers and integrates three complementary components: Ice Breaking, Total Physical Response (TPR), and Classroom Management. Its distinctive contribution lies in translating teachers' identified needs into a ready-to-use instructional resource that integrates joyful learning activities, classroom-management support, and directly accessible materials through QR codes within a single teacher-oriented guide. AI was utilized during product development to support content elaboration and visual resource preparation rather than requiring direct student interaction with AI. Expert validation and a limited trial with target users indicated that the guide was highly feasible, clear, relevant, and practical for classroom use. Teachers particularly valued the accessible supporting materials, structured activity procedures, and their potential to reduce preparation demands. The study provides a practical and context-responsive instructional resource that enables Grade 4 English teachers to implement joyful learning activities by following ready-to-use guidance and accessing supporting materials through QR codes, thereby reducing preparation demands while maintaining teacher control over classroom implementation.
